Glass Galary
Glass is created from a mixture of natural raw materials and is considered to be one of humans most impressive discoveries. Combining sand, sodium carbonate, aluminium oxide at high temperatures, this originates a transparent liquid which constitutes in itself a clear sustainable option. The same raw materials have been used for thousands of years, always renewable. The production process results in very low levels of pollution as well as waste. Above all, glass is eternally recyclable.
The manual work of blown glass is an art, today in the possession of a few workers capable of continuing the technique. Many consider that the magic happens by the hands of the glass craftsman who, when harvesting the molten glass in the furnace, at a temperature of about 1200 degrees, with a hollow blowing-iron or pipe keep in permanent rotation and through which it blows and molds the material, with molds or just with skillful hands, giving form to a singular piece.
The molded glass can be applied with several techniques in order to decorate and transform the piece, from these techniques we highlight the etching (engraving the design directly onto the glass), lapidating, painting and matting (frost finish).
